We recently offered up a maze-themed Westworld holiday guide to help all you readers – and your addicted friends and family members – to pass the time until season two arrives, and to do so in a festive fashion. Well, it turns out we missed the best Christmas present of them all: a perfect replica of the show’s maze, made by hand.
A Kickstarter campaign to fund an extremely limited run of these “Arnold mazes” is almost complete, but there’s still time – three days, to be exact. Todd Blatt, a mechanical engineer and the overseer of Custom 3D Stuff, an “object-creation consultancy,” is the creator of the project, and he’s the chap responsible for other such memorable (and successful) Kickstarters as the Game of Thrones-inspired Hodor door stop and Charm City Maps (which need to be seen to be believed).
The Arnold mazes look to be amazingly accurate and well-crafted, although they do cost $75 a pop. Then again, since their production run is being limited to only 50(!), there is certainly an extra value added to the proposition – and the mazes are definitely going fast; at the time of publication, only 37 slots were left to be filled.
Head on over to the Kickstarter page, check out the nifty behind-the-scenes video of how Blatt handcrafts each maze, and consider purchasing one for the nerdy love of your life, won’t you?
