In the wake of Westworld’s 22 Emmy nominations, which were announced just over a week ago, the show is already back in full swing on its second season!
WestworldWatchers can confirm, courtesy of reader Jeanne, that filming has continued at Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita, CA this week. The exterior town set at Melody Ranch is used for Westworld’s Sweetwater scenes, and the location is also home to the saloon that Maeve (Thandie Newton) operated out of throughout the majority of the first season. The studio also houses a few sound stages, where many of Westworld’s interior scenes are shot.
According to Jeanne, there has been heavy traffic in and out of the studio throughout the week, with the majority of filming taking place inside the sound stages. The show is also continuing to hold several prop weapon training sessions at the studio, similar to what we saw James Marsden (Teddy) partaking in a couple weeks ago.
We also have some insight about two of the actors who may have been a part of this week’s filming. The first, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise, is Jeffrey Wright (Bernard/Arnold). The actor posted to his Instagram a screen shot earlier this week of his phone alarm set at the very early hour of 4:45am, with the caption “It’s that time. #BackOnline”. Check it out for yourself:
Given how early the alarm is set for, it’s safe to assume Wright was destined for a long day on set. And I must say, even for a host, that’s an early wake up call…
The second picture is a bit more of a surprise, but certainly an exciting one! Westworld’s very own Rebus (Steven Ogg) looks to be back on set as well. In a photo posted yesterday, the actor definitely looks to be dressed in his android costume, with the caption “So grateful. So blessed. To play dress up for a living….such a lucky cowbo..outla…umm…savio…ummm…”:
While the show never explicitly denied that Rebus would be back for the next season, it’s definitely gratifying to receive confirmation that Ogg is returning, especially given how well he plays his character.
