We have a fresh batch of news, courtesy of Westworld’s new and returning cast members!
The first bit of news comes from Jimmi Simpson. There has been much speculation (and pretty much confirmation) that Simpson would be returning for the show’s second season to reprise his role as William. He dropped not-so-subtle hints during San Diego Comic-Con, and then offered a very promising answer to a curious fan just a few days ago.
If all that wasn’t enough reassurance for you, today Simpson tweeted a time-lapse video of the picturesque California landscape, with the caption: “From this morning- my first day back at #Westworld.” Take a look for yourself:

If there were any other doubts about his character’s return prior to this tweet, those are a thing of the past now!
Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores) is also continuing to film this week, and it looks like her scenes aren’t lacking in intensity.
In a tweet from the actress posted Monday evening, Wood admits that she had to excuse herself from set during the filming of a scene, something she hasn’t done in a long time:

Could she have been filming some type of emotional scene with the young William? The timing of her and Simpson’s tweets above suggest they were filming on the same day, so this could very well have been the case. Perhaps William’s continued evolution into the Man in Black (Ed Harris) is proving all the more difficult for the park’s oldest host to handle?
Finally, we go from returning cast members to a new addition. Jonathan Tucker, who is slated to play commanding military officer Major Craddock in the upcoming season, caught up with TV Fanatic to chat about his role in Westworld.
As a fan of the show, Tucker admits he’s understandably very excited to be on set:
“The idea, as a young man and as an actor, to get to this set is thrilling. The scope and the size, the offerings that a production of this level offers or that this level show provides, is unparalleled. It’s kind of like having all the tools at your disposal and trying to figure what’s going to work and what’s not going to work. But it’s very, very exciting.”
It’s very exciting indeed! While the second season premiere is still months out, one can’t help but begin to think about how all these new characters are going to fit into the larger storyline. At first glance, it’s safe to assume that Tucker’s character will be brought in by Delos to attempt to control the host army. However, with the twists that co-showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy like to throw in, perhaps Major Craddock will prove to be an entirely different human (or host).
As always, let us know your thoughts!
