Evan Rachel Wood on Westworld Season 2: “It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done”

Coming Soon Trailer_9

There is apparently no rest for the weary! Just days after wrapping filming on Westworld‘s second season, Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores) headed up to Toronto, Canada for a Q&A at TIFF Bell Lightbox. Lucky for us, the show’s leading lady had no issue talking about the HBO hit’s new season!

According to Daily Mail, Wood’s discussion about Westworld began with her admitting that she really didn’t know where the show could go after season one’s grand finale, but it sounds like co-showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy were up to the challenge of answering that question. “You are really, really in for it,” says Wood. “I had no idea, I thought, ‘God where are they gonna go from here, how are they gonna top this?’ – first five minutes of the first episode, [I thought,] ‘Oh they’ve done it!'”

It’s difficult to imagine that Nolan and Joy wouldn’t try to outdo themselves this season, especially with the incredible success the show’s first season attained, but to hear it confirmed by Wood makes it all the more exciting!

Frantic excitement aside, to raise the bar higher than the level Westworld‘s first season set is no easy task, and it certainly took its toll on Wood:

“It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done, especially season two, actually because [Dolores is] even more complicated, if you can imagine. I described being on season two as being on The Deadliest Catch boat while being a contestant on Chopped.

Now there’s a reality spinoff I’d like to see!

Wood also opened up about the bond she’s built with her character after spending two seasons with her. “I care about the show so much, and this character I’ve gotten to love, so much,” says the actress. “When I put on that blue dress, kind of something happens, and I definitely disappear; actually, when season two wrapped, I didn’t want to take it off.”

While not all that surprising, it’s interesting to learn that we’ll be seeing Dolores back in her blue dress this season. This could certainly be a part of the show’s return to the earlier storyline with Jimmi Simpson‘s William, but it could also hint that Dolores may use her innocent farm girl outfit as a way to disguise her true self-conscious android nature.

Check out the rest of Wood’s interview, where you can also watch a recording of her entire Q&A, and let us know what you think!
