Counting down the days to the season two premiere and in desperate need of a Westworld fix? Boy, does HBO have a vacation for you! Yesterday, the network announced plans for a “Live Without Limits” weekend beginning March 9, 2018 at the South by Southwest Conference and Festivals in Austin, Texas. This new and ambitious immersive experience will feature a custom-built town just outside Austin, which will include “iconic elements and locations” from Westworld such as The Coronado hotel and the Mariposa Saloon.
From the press release:
Previous activations at San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic-Con gave fans an opportunity to experience the unsettling interview and check-in process at Westworld. This new experience will take them even deeper into the storyworld of the show, allowing them to explore more than two acres of custom-built parkland. After registering for an appointment at DiscoverWestworld.com, guests will head to downtown Austin’s EastSide Tavern to check in. A luxurious Delos Shuttle will then drive them to a location just outside Austin, where they will visit a fully immersive, functional version of Sweetwater, the town at the center of the Westworld theme park from the series. Upon arrival, guests will be assigned a black hat or white hat and set loose to explore the park. No guidebook. No orientation.
Guests will get to live without limits as they interact with dozens of hosts across a variety of narratives, while hunting for clues about what’s to come in season two. Some of these clues will be hidden around the park, while others can only be discovered by asking the right questions of specific hosts. They will also have the opportunity to sample western-themed food and cocktails and to uncover other personalized elements that will make each visitor’s experience unique.
Once their time in the park has ended, the Delos Shuttle will return guests to EastSide Tavern. The entire experience will last approximately two hours.
HBO opened up online registration for half the available slots yesterday, which unfortunately sold out in an hour. The remaining appointments will become available during SXSW; be sure to follow the official Westworld twitter account for details. You must be 21 or over to attend.
If you aren’t lucky enough to sescure a spot, HBO is also partnering with Lyft for a Westworld-themed Lyft experience. A secret code gives you a free ride to the park with “in-story surprises along the way.” There will also be a Westworld panel on Saturday, March 10th from 3:30 to 4:30 pm in the Austin Convention Center, Room D. The session will feature showrunners and co-creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as cast members Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, and James Marsden.
Need a hint about what to expect at the Westworld experience? Look no further. Prior to the SXSW announcement, the Westworld twitter account posted this cryptic clue.

The link takes you to the Delos Destinations intranet, where there are two new corporate communications about the “roadshow.” One discusses the press release, but the other mentions a new narrative and “host” – Santiago Vasquez. You can see the storyline below. If you take a trip to Sweetwater next month, keep an eye out for him.
