As we all know, Westworld totes a loaded cast of accomplished A-list actors. From Jeffrey Wright, to Evan Rachel Wood and James Marsden, to even Ed Harris and the great Anthony Hopkins, the show is far from lacking when it comes to quality talent.
With such a star-studded cast, one could assume characters with more minor roles in the show may find it difficult to establish themselves among Hollywood’s elite. However, when it comes to Westworld, this assumption could not be further from the truth. Regardless of screen time or resume, each actor on the show breathes their own unique life into their respective characters, and the result is a rock solid ensemble, each character complimenting the others in the perfect way.
Steven Ogg, who plays Rebus on the show, is one of these actors who managed to give a captivating performance, even in a supporting role. Recently, the actor sat down with ComicBook.com to chat about his time on Westworld and the future of his host.
Along with the HBO show, Ogg has also established himself on The Walking Dead, and was recently promoted to series regular. When asked if the actor could still do Westworld with his increased role on the AMC hit, Ogg reassuringly answered, “Yes. We made sure that was a possibility.”
The extent of his involvement on the show, however, remains to be seen. “I don’t know how much with Westworld there’s going to be”, said the actor. “But I believe, you know, there’s a lot of talk about a lot of things happening, so we just have to wait and see. But, Rebus is not dead in Westworld.”
To no one’s surprise, Ogg’s response about what’s to come on Westworld is rather cryptic. While the actor is most likely still in the dark about what his character’s future storyline will entail, any information he does possess could provide some juicy spoilers, so it would certainly behoove him to keep those details close to the vest.
Speaking of spoilers, Ogg couldn’t help but provide a rather strong opinion of how he feels when fans of Westworld ask him to reveal information about the show:
“I don’t understand spoilers. It’s like, when people come up at these things saying, ‘You going to tell me something?’ [Sarcastic response:] ‘Yeah, of course, I’ll tell you everything, what do you want to know?’ Like, we don’t know what’s happening. We don’t get the scripts, so we have no idea, and we’re the ones doing it. But then why would people even want to know?”
Ogg’s point about the lack of information actors are given is a particularly good one. As we’ve come to understand through various interviews with the show’s cast, the majority of twists over the first season were kept from the actors until the very last second. For example, just recently, Jeffrey Wright revealed during a THR round table that he learned about Bernard’s true identity the day that he arrived to shoot that scene.
So, while Ogg might be aware of some spoiler-worthy information about the second season, chances are better he’s as in the dark as fans of the show are. Of course, it never hurts to ask anyway, right?
What do you think is to come for Rebus in the second season? Let us know!
